What are analysts saying about Huntington Bancshares Incorporated stock?
Here are some recent quotes from research analysts about Huntington Bancshares Incorporated stock:
According to Zacks Investment Research, "Huntington’s shares outperformed the Zacks categorized Midwest Banks industry, over the last six months. The company’s fourth-quarter 2016 earnings surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate, primarily driven by benefit from the FirstMerit acquisition and revenue growth. However, increased expenses and provisions for credit losses were the headwinds. Following the Fed rate hike, margin pressure for the company finally seems to be easing. Also, FirstMerit deal is expected to result in $255 million of annualized cost savings. Nonetheless, escalating costs, despite having initiated a cost control plan, remains a major concern for the company. Also, a stringent regulatory landscape will continue to hurt the financials in the near-term." (2/14/2017)
- FBR & Co analysts commented, "We reiterate our Market Perform rating on Huntington Bancshares following 4Q16 results. This quarter, purchase accounting accretion boosted NIM and helped offset higher credit costs and expenses. Core NIM will benefit from the December rate hike, and the integration of FirstMerit continues to go well. While this was a solid quarter, we remain on the sidelines given relative valuation. We reiterate our 2017 EPS estimate of $0.95 and raise our 2018 EPS estimate to $1.10 (from $1.05) to reflect slightly more net interest income. With our new estimates, we raise our price target to $15 (from $14), equal to 13.6x our 2018 EPS estimate and 2.1x 4Q17E TBV." (1/25/2017)
