Piraeus Bank traces its origins to 1916, when it was established in the port city of Piraeus. After becoming a publicly listed bank in the early 1990s, it expanded through organic growth and acquisitions and developed into one of Greece’s major banking institutions. Piraeus Financial Holdings was established as the group’s listed holding company as part of the bank’s corporate restructuring. The group is led by Chief Executive Officer Christos Megalou.
