The company also develops renewable and lower-carbon materials, including its “I'm green” line of bio-based polyethylene produced from sugarcane ethanol. Braskem serves customers across a range of industries, including food and beverage packaging, agriculture, hygiene products, infrastructure, and manufacturing.

Founded in 2002 through the consolidation of several Brazilian petrochemical businesses, Braskem has expanded its operations beyond Brazil. Its industrial and commercial activities have included facilities and operations in the United States, Mexico, Germany, and other international markets, giving the company a broad presence in the Americas and Europe.
