Braskem S.A. is a Brazil-based petrochemical company and one of the largest producers of thermoplastic resins in Latin America. The company manufactures polyethylene, polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride, which are used in packaging, construction, automotive components, consumer goods and other industrial applications.

Braskem also produces basic petrochemicals and chemical intermediates, including ethylene, propylene, aromatics, solvents and caustic soda. These products serve as raw materials for manufacturers across a range of industries, and the company also develops renewable and circular-economy solutions, including bio-based polymers and initiatives related to plastics recycling.

Established in 2002 through the consolidation of several Brazilian petrochemical businesses, Braskem has expanded its operations beyond Brazil. Its industrial and commercial activities serve customers in Brazil, the United States, Mexico and Europe, with additional international distribution. The company is headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil, and has historically been controlled by Novonor, formerly known as Odebrecht, with Petrobras also holding a significant ownership interest.
