Euronext has expanded through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions. It was established in 2000 through the merger of the Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris stock exchanges and later broadened its European presence through transactions including the acquisition of the Irish Stock Exchange, Oslo Børs and Borsa Italiana. The company is headquartered in Amsterdam and is led by Chief Executive Officer Stéphane Boujnah.
