Horizons Marijuana Life Sciences Index ETF is an exchange-traded fund designed to provide investors with diversified exposure to the global cannabis industry. The fund invests primarily in companies involved in the cultivation, production, processing, distribution and sale of marijuana and marijuana-related products.

The ETF also provides exposure to businesses supporting the cannabis sector, including biotechnology, pharmaceutical development, industrial hemp, agricultural technology and ancillary products and services. Its holdings have historically included companies based mainly in Canada and the United States, with potential exposure to other international cannabis markets.

Launched by Horizons ETFs in 2017, the fund was among the first exchange-traded products focused specifically on the marijuana industry. It trades in Canada under the ticker HMMJ and has also been quoted in the United States under the symbol HMLSF. Following the rebranding of Horizons ETFs’ Canadian operations, the fund became associated with the Global X Canada platform.
