Founded in 1990 by entrepreneur Xavier Niel, Iliad began as one of France’s first internet service providers, launching its Freebox livebox in 1999 and shaking up the market with low-cost flat-rate broadband packages. Over the years, the company has maintained a reputation for disruptive pricing strategies and innovative product rollouts, such as the introduction of unlimited mobile data add-ons and all-inclusive broadband‐plus‐TV bundles.
