Before its restructuring, Linn Energy owned a diversified portfolio of onshore properties in several U.S. regions, including the Permian Basin, the Mid-Continent, the Hugoton Basin, the Rockies and East Texas. Its activities included drilling and completion, well operations, production management and the development of mature oil and gas assets.

Linn Energy filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2016 amid challenging commodity prices and emerged from restructuring in 2017 under the name Riviera Resources, Inc. The LINEQ symbol is associated with the former Linn Energy entity, which no longer operates under its original corporate structure.
