OMV Aktiengesellschaft is an Austria-based, integrated energy, fuels and chemicals company headquartered in Vienna. Founded in 1956 as Österreichische Mineralölverwaltung, the company has developed from a national oil enterprise into an international energy group serving customers primarily in Europe and selected markets in the Middle East and Africa.

OMV’s activities include the exploration and production of oil and natural gas, natural gas marketing, refining, and the supply and distribution of fuels and other energy products. Through its energy business, the company also participates in lower-carbon and renewable energy initiatives, including sustainable fuels and geothermal energy projects.

OMV is also active in chemicals and materials through its majority-owned subsidiary Borealis, which produces polyolefins and other chemical products for industries such as packaging, infrastructure, automotive and healthcare. The group operates refineries, fuel-marketing networks, storage facilities and other energy infrastructure across Central and Southeastern Europe. Alfred Stern has served as OMV’s chief executive officer since 2021.
