Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) (NYSE:HII) is a U.S. defense company that designs, builds, maintains and modernizes military ships and provides technology services to government and defense customers. Its principal customers include the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, intelligence agencies and other federal organizations.
Through Newport News Shipbuilding, HII builds and services nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and supports the construction and maintenance of nuclear-powered submarines. Its Ingalls Shipbuilding division designs and builds amphibious assault ships, destroyers, national security cutters and other surface vessels. These operations also provide fleet support, overhaul, refueling and modernization services.
HII’s Mission Technologies division provides command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance services, as well as unmanned systems, information technology and training solutions. The company primarily serves customers in the United States, with select programs and services supporting allied and international defense requirements.
Huntington Ingalls Industries was formed in 2011 when Northrop Grumman separated its shipbuilding business. The company is headquartered in Newport News, Virginia, and is led by President and Chief Executive Officer Chris Kastner.
