Mirum wins FDA approval for Atebrioz
FDA Clears This Under-$5 Biotech for Phase 2 Clinical Trial
A NASDAQ-listed biotech just cleared a major regulatory milestone. The FDA has cleared its lead multiple sclerosis therapy, Lucid-MS, to enter Phase 2 clinical trials - the first time it will be tested in patients with progressive MS. Unlike treatments that suppress the immune system, Lucid-MS is designed to protect myelin, the insulating layer destroyed by the disease. In a pre-clinical mouse model, treatment led to movement recovery including walking. Independent research projects peak annual sales of up to $5 billion if Phase 2 succeeds. The stock still trades under $5 per share.tc pixel

About Mirum Pharmaceuticals

Mirum Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:MIRM) is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing medicines for rare diseases of the liver and gastrointestinal system. The company’s work centers on conditions involving impaired bile acid transport and cholestasis, which can cause serious liver damage and debilitating symptoms such as itching.

Mirum’s primary commercial product is Livmarli (maralixibat), an oral ileal bile acid transporter inhibitor. In the United States, Livmarli is approved to treat cholestatic pruritus associated with Alagille syndrome and progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis in eligible pediatric patients. The company is also evaluating maralixibat and other investigational therapies in additional cholestatic liver diseases, including primary biliary cholangitis and related conditions.

Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Foster City, California, Mirum serves patients through its commercial operations in the United States and international markets where its products have received regulatory approval. The company’s leadership has included David Meeker, M.D., who has served as chief executive officer and brings experience in rare-disease and specialty pharmaceutical development.
