About Occidental Petroleum

Occidental Petroleum (NYSE:OXY), commonly known as Oxy, is an energy company engaged in the exploration, development and production of oil and natural gas. Its upstream operations are concentrated in the United States, including the Permian and Denver-Julesburg basins, and in selected international regions such as the Middle East and North Africa.

The company also operates midstream and marketing businesses that support the gathering, processing, transportation and sale of oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids. Through its chemical subsidiary, OxyChem, Occidental manufactures and markets chlor-alkali chemicals, vinyl products and other basic chemicals used in water treatment, construction, healthcare, agriculture and industrial applications.

Occidental is also pursuing lower-carbon initiatives through carbon-management and carbon-capture projects, including the development of direct-air-capture technology intended to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Founded in 1920, the company expanded its U.S. oil and gas position through its acquisition of Anadarko Petroleum in 2019. Occidental has been led by President and Chief Executive Officer Vicki Hollub since 2016.
