About GATX

GATX (NYSE:GATX) (NYSE: GATX) is a global railcar leasing and asset management company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Founded in 1898 as General American Transportation Corporation, GATX has grown into one of the world’s leading lessors of railcars, marine vessels and industrial assets. The company’s core business focuses on leasing and managing high-value equipment for customers in the energy, industrial, chemical, agricultural and metals markets.

In its Rail North America segment, GATX owns and manages a diverse fleet of more than 60,000 railcars, including tank cars, covered hoppers, boxcars and flatcars. The company provides long-term and short-term leasing solutions, as well as comprehensive maintenance and repair services through an extensive network of owned and contracted repair facilities. GATX’s Rail International operations extend its leasing footprint to Europe and Asia, where it serves local and multinational customers with regionally approved railcar designs and maintenance support.

Beyond railcar leasing, GATX operates the American Steamship Company (ASC), which specializes in self-unloading bulk vessels on the Great Lakes. ASC’s modern fleet transports commodities such as iron ore, coal, limestone and gypsum, supporting key steel, power and construction industries in North America. GATX’s marine segment complements its rail operations by offering integrated logistics solutions for bulk goods movement.

Over more than a century of operation, GATX has leveraged strategic investments and selective acquisitions to expand its geographic reach and asset base. The company emphasizes safety, asset utilization and customer service, applying data analytics and engineering expertise to optimize fleet performance. GATX is led by an experienced management team dedicated to long-term value creation through disciplined capital allocation and sustainable operating practices.
