Gold majors have a big problem
Newmont spent 15 billion dollars acquiring Newcrest in 2023, the largest deal in gold mining history. Yet production stayed at 5.9 million ounces, unchanged from 2020. Newmont, Barrick and Agnico all face the same reserve shortage, pushing majors toward acquiring smaller producing miners. Recent deals show the pattern: Rupert Resources jumped 67 percent and G2 Goldfields jumped 79 percent the day their buyouts were announced. Analyst Garrett Goggin has identified four junior miners he believes are next on the shopping list.tc pixel

About Innoviva

Innoviva (NASDAQ:INVA) is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing healthcare products through strategic partnerships, royalty arrangements and investments in biotechnology businesses. The company’s portfolio has historically centered on respiratory medicines, with rights connected to products developed with GlaxoSmithKline, including Trelegy Ellipta, Anoro Ellipta and Breo Ellipta.

Innoviva generally operates as an asset-focused healthcare company rather than as a traditional commercial pharmaceutical manufacturer. It receives royalties and other economic benefits from partnered products marketed in multiple international markets, while pursuing additional opportunities in biopharmaceutical and healthcare companies. Its portfolio has also included an investment in Armata Pharmaceuticals, which is developing bacteriophage-based therapies intended to treat drug-resistant bacterial infections.

The company was previously known as Theravance, Inc. and adopted the Innoviva name in 2016 as its business evolved toward a royalty and strategic-investment model. Innoviva is headquartered in the United States and relies substantially on partners and affiliated companies for the development, regulatory approval and commercialization of its products. Pavel Raifeld serves as the company’s chief executive officer.
