Largo produces vanadium pentoxide, ferrovanadium and other vanadium products. Vanadium pentoxide is used primarily to strengthen steel and manufacture specialty chemicals, while vanadium-based electrolytes can be used in vanadium redox flow batteries, a type of rechargeable battery designed for stationary energy-storage applications. Through its energy-storage initiatives, Largo has also pursued the development and commercialization of vanadium redox flow battery systems.

Founded as Largo Resources, the company adopted the Largo name as it expanded its focus beyond mining and processing into vanadium-based energy-storage solutions. Largo serves international industrial and energy markets, with its principal mining and production activities located in Brazil.
