Company Overview

Lundin Energy AB (publ.) was a Swedish independent oil and gas exploration and production company. Formerly known as Lundin Petroleum, the company changed its name to Lundin Energy in 2020 and focused on discovering, developing and producing hydrocarbons, with Norway becoming its principal operating region.

The company’s Norwegian portfolio included interests in major North Sea projects such as the Johan Sverdrup and Edvard Grieg fields. Lundin Energy also held exploration and production interests in other international markets during its history, including Malaysia, France, the Netherlands and Tunisia. Its activities covered geological exploration, field development, drilling and the production of crude oil and natural gas.

In 2022, Lundin Energy transferred its oil and gas exploration and production business to Aker BP in exchange for cash and shares. The remaining renewable-energy operations were separated into a renamed company, Orrön Energy AB. Alex Schneiter served as Lundin Energy’s president and chief executive officer during its final period as an independent oil and gas company.
