About Mid-America Apartment Communities

Mid-America Apartment Communities (NYSE:MAA) (NYSE: MAA) is a self-administered and self-managed real estate investment trust focused on the ownership, operation and management of multifamily apartment communities. The company generates revenue primarily by leasing residential apartment homes to individuals and families.

MAA’s portfolio is concentrated in the southeastern and southwestern United States, with communities serving markets across the Sun Belt, including states such as Tennessee, Texas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Its properties are generally located in growing metropolitan areas and include a range of apartment types, amenities and floor plans designed for a variety of renters.

The company traces its history to 1977 and became a publicly traded REIT in 1994.
