About Toyota Motor

Toyota Motor (NYSE:TM) is a global automotive manufacturer headquartered in Toyota City, Aichi, Japan. Founded in 1937 by Kiichiro Toyoda as an offshoot of Toyoda Automatic Loom Works, the company builds and sells a broad range of vehicles and related products under the Toyota and Lexus brands. Toyota’s operations encompass vehicle design, manufacturing, parts supply, and distribution through a worldwide dealer network, as well as complementary businesses such as vehicle financing and mobility services.

The company’s product lineup includes passenger cars, SUVs, pickup trucks, light commercial vehicles and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, along with engines and vehicle components. Toyota has been a pioneer in hybrid technology, introducing the Prius in the late 1990s, and now offers hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery electric and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles. In addition to vehicle manufacturing, Toyota provides aftermarket parts and ancillary services through affiliated companies and subsidiaries.

Toyota invests heavily in research and development focused on vehicle electrification, hydrogen fuel-cell technology, advanced safety systems and automated driving. The company is active in motorsport and performance development through Toyota Gazoo Racing and pursues mobility initiatives that include connected services, ridesharing partnerships and strategic investments in battery and software technologies to support the transition to low-emission transportation.

Operating on a truly global scale, Toyota serves markets across North America, Europe, Asia and other regions, with manufacturing and assembly facilities located in multiple countries. Corporate leadership includes Koji Sato, who was appointed president and CEO in April 2023, and Akio Toyoda, who serves as chairman. Toyota’s integrated structure of brands, subsidiaries and regional operations supports its role as one of the world’s largest and most diversified automakers.
