Its customers include municipalities, utility contractors, civil construction firms, engineers and other commercial and industrial buyers.

Core & Main traces its operations to HD Supply Waterworks, which was acquired by Clayton, Dubilier & Rice in 2017 and subsequently rebranded as Core & Main. The company became a publicly traded business in 2021. Through a network serving communities and contractors nationwide, Core & Main combines product distribution with technical support, supply-chain services and project assistance.
