Company Overview

Frontline plc is a maritime shipping company that owns and operates tankers engaged primarily in the transportation of crude oil and refined petroleum products. Its fleet has included very large crude carriers (VLCCs), Suezmax tankers and long-range product tankers, which transport energy commodities for oil companies, trading firms and other customers worldwide.

The company’s vessels operate on international shipping routes, serving major oil-producing, refining and consuming regions. Frontline’s business generates revenue through a combination of voyage charters, time charters and, in some cases, participation in commercial pools that market vessels collectively.

Frontline was established in 1985 and is associated with shipping investor John Fredriksen. The company is incorporated in Bermuda and has historically maintained a corporate presence in Cyprus. In 2023, Frontline completed the acquisition of Euronav’s fleet and related operations, significantly expanding its position in the global crude-oil tanker market. Lars H. Barstad has served as the company’s chief executive officer.
