What are analysts saying about Dunkin' Brands Group stock?
Here are some recent quotes from research analysts about Dunkin' Brands Group stock:
According to Zacks Investment Research, "Dunkin’ Brands’ shares have outpaced the Zacks categorized Retail-Restaurants industry over the last one year. The company’s fourth-quarter 2016 earnings beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 6.7% and improved 23% year over year. Quarterly revenues increased 5.8% year over year and beat the consensus mark by 0.5%. Primary reasons for the growth were increased royalty income and franchise fees, partly offset by a decrease in sales at company-operated restaurants. Going forward, the company’s top-line should gain from menu innovation and unit expansion plans. Various sales and digital initiatives like product launches, increased focus on its beverage portfolio, ongoing loyalty program and mobile ordering service also bode well. Yet, intense competition and a soft consumer spending environment raise concerns. Also, challenging comps growth in international markets at both its divisions is a potent headwind." (2/10/2017)
- Jefferies Group LLC analysts commented, "4Q EPS beat at $0.64 vs. us/con at $0.61 on extra week, gains and better margins. Nevertheless, key oper metrics on sss and development remain muted and expected to continue with below consensus EPS guide for '17. We lower EPS ests for '17/'18 (EBITDA less so) and believe it will take time to see improvements in trends. We realize franchisors seeing investor interest, but remain at Underperform as we move PT to $48 (from $45) based upon 13x '18 EV/EBITDA." (2/10/2017)
- RBC Capital Markets analysts commented, "Ahead of DNKN 4Q earnings next week, we are maintaining our 4Q16 estimates but trimming our 1Q17e SSS growth and 2017/2018 EPS estimates and price target. We believe the company is beginning a transition to more profitable sales, which can ultimately bolster unit development. However, we see near-term sales risks partly due to competitor discounting." (2/3/2017)
Guggenheim analysts commented, "With a 2016 outlook of below-target Western new store returns and sub-2% domestic SSS, we see little justification for further multiple expansion. Earnings upside for a 99% franchise concept is also limited absent curbed corporate G&A, which is unlikely as corporate support is required given expansion into West and Emerging markets with less experienced franchisees," analyst Matthew Difrisco wrote in a note to clients. The analyst noted that same-store sales catalysts ahead appear to be technology driven, including on-the-go mobile ordering, digital menu boards, and delivery. In addition, a below-2 percent same-store sales outlook will likely persist as value offerings among traditional QSR peers continue to ramp and the macro drivers for Dunkin's all-important breakfast day-part may moderate."West and Emerging markets continue to generate below-20% returns, below management's initial target of 25% cash on cash returns. In part, management attributes higher investment costs relating to a higher mix of freestanding locations in these markets, yet the sales volumes are not enough to support greater leverage or higher margins," (3/7/2016)
