James Thalacker Analyst Performance

James joined BMO Capital Markets in the spring of 2019 to cover the Utilities, Power & Renewables sector after spending nearly two decades on the buyside and the last 15 years as a portfolio manager at both Millennium Partners and Highbridge Capital Management. James began following the utility industry in early 1996 as a sell-side analyst with Dean Witter Reynolds and added the merchant power, merchant energy and midstream sectors to his coverage as he transitioned to the buy side late 1999. In this roll, while primarily focused on equities, James also invested in the credit of utility and merchant energy sectors and further expanded his overall sector expertise to include the exploration & production, refining and oil field services sectors. James holds a bachelor of arts degree in both economics and history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as a master’s of science degree in consumer resource/finance, also from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
