Investors can find opportunities in every market. One place to find opportunities is to look at where the jobs are being created.
The September Jobs report was weak by many measures. The headline number showed only 29,000 private sector jobs were created, far below expectations of 84,000 and the prior 12-month average of 45,000.
But growth is still growth. That's why investors should note the report's findings on two strong trends.
First, women continue to outnumber men in the overall workforce. That trend has been in place for eight straight months, the longest such run since 2010.
That's due in large part to the second trend. Healthcare continues to be a sector posting some of the strongest gains. In the September report, healthcare accounted for over 50% of the payroll gains, and women hold nearly four of every five jobs in the sector.
The 17,000 healthcare jobs created were significantly lower than the 12-month average of 33,000. But analysts still believe the long-term trend for the sector is in place, largely due to the aging of America. Here are three stocks that can help investors capitalize on these trends.
Healthcare Hiring Adds a Tailwind to Uniform Rentals
Sometimes the story writes itself. Healthcare is driving employment growth. Many healthcare workers require uniforms. And Cintas NASDAQ: CTAS is best known for uniform rentals. The business grows when headcounts at client sites grow.
Cintas supplies scrubs and facility services to hospitals and clinics. Every new nurse or medical assistant is a potential new uniform wearer.

Healthcare hiring could also provide some protection against a broader labor market slowdown. Even if hiring weakens across other industries, continued job growth in healthcare could support demand for Cintas's uniform rental services.
The fundamentals provide proof of this trend. Revenue in the company's first quarter for fiscal year 2027 (FY2027) topped $3 billion for the first time, rising 10.9% to $3.01 billion. Organic growth was 8.9%. Management said volume, not price increases, drove most of the gains.
Cintas also raised its full-year outlook. It now expects adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $5.45 to $5.54. Revenue guidance rose to $12.15 billion to $12.27 billion.
The company also raised its quarterly dividend to 52 cents per share. It repurchased about $545 million of stock during the quarter and into September.
Valuation is the catch. At 41x earnings, investors are paying a premium for consistency. However, analysts have a Moderate Buy rating on CTAS with a $218.50 consensus price target, which leaves some upside alongside a growing dividend.
The Patient Demand Behind the Hiring
Hospitals don't add staff on a hunch. They hire when patient volumes justify it. That makes steady healthcare payroll gains a signal of durable demand at HCA Healthcare Inc. NYSE: HCA, the largest U.S. hospital operator.

The latest numbers support the growth story. In Q2 2026, HCA earned $7.59 per share, topping the $7.56 consensus. Revenue grew 8.7% to $20.23 billion. The company is also expanding its outpatient footprint, including more ambulatory surgery centers.
The market was slow to buy the story. Shares moved from $382 in July to around $424 at the beginning of October.
Since Oct. 1, HCA has jumped approximately 10%. However, the stock remains well below its 52-week high of $556.52, leaving plenty of upside for investors.
The question is if analysts will join in. Sixteen of 24 analysts rate HCA a Buy, and RBC and TD Cowen raised targets in October. But the $467.61 consensus target now sits just above the share price.
Reimbursement disputes with insurers remain a risk. The next earnings report will need to show volume growth is still intact.
Childcare Demand Follows Working Women
Bright Horizons Family Solutions Inc. NYSE: BFAM captures a second-order effect. More working women, many on shifts in healthcare, means more demand for childcare. Employer-sponsored and backup care is the company's core business.

Demand is showing up in the numbers. In its Q2 2026 earnings report, the company posted revenue growth of 7% to $779 million. Backup care revenue jumped 19%. Adjusted EPS climbed to $1.28 from $1.07. Management also raised its full-year EPS guidance to $5.05 to $5.15, above the $4.94 consensus.
However, the stock drifted lower. BFAM is down 30% in 2026, and shares trade close to $70.
The analysts tracked by MarketBeat give the stock a $92 consensus price target that implies about 30% upside. Yet the consensus rating is only Hold.
Analysts are also trimming targets. In October, BMO cut its target to $83 from $93 but kept an Outperform rating. Morgan Stanley holds an Underweight rating with a $64 target. The bears see a business still working through underused centers. The bulls see backup care becoming the growth engine.
Center closures and impairment charges explain some of the caution. The business is growing, but the stock is priced for disappointment.
