About Lemonade

Lemonade (NYSE:LMND) (NYSE: LMND) is a New York–based technology-driven insurance carrier that leverages artificial intelligence and behavioral economics to streamline the purchase and management of policies. Founded in 2015, the company offers renters, homeowners, pet, term life and car insurance products tailored for digitally savvy consumers. By automating underwriting and claims processing through chatbots and machine learning, Lemonade aims to deliver a more transparent and user-friendly experience than traditional insurers.

The company’s product suite includes standalone policies for renters and homeowners, customizable pet insurance plans, and term life coverage with simple online applications. In select U.S. states, Lemonade has expanded into auto insurance, integrating telematics and data analytics to refine premium pricing and risk assessment. Through its mobile app and web platform, customers can obtain quotes in minutes, report claims instantly and track the status of payouts in real time.

Since its launch, Lemonade has extended its geographic footprint beyond the United States into several European markets, including Germany, the Netherlands and France. The firm operates under local regulatory frameworks in each country, partnering with reinsurers to underwrite risk and ensure capital adequacy. Leadership is headed by co-founders Daniel Schreiber (CEO) and Shai Wininger (Chairman), who bring prior experience in tech startups and software development to the insurance sector.

Lemonade’s business model departs from conventional insurance by charging a fixed fee from collected premiums and allocating unclaimed funds to causes chosen by its policyholders. This “Giveback” program is designed to align incentives between the company and its customers. In addition to direct-to-consumer offerings, Lemonade has begun piloting embedded insurance solutions, enabling digital platforms and real-estate partners to integrate coverage at the point of sale or rental.
