The company traces its aerospace operations to the development of aircraft engines during World War I and became known as GE Aviation before adopting the GE Aerospace name. GE Aerospace became an independent public company in April 2024 following the separation of General Electric's aerospace, power and renewable energy businesses. H. Lawrence Culp Jr. serves as chairman and chief executive officer.
