AuthenTec, Inc. (AuthenTec) is a provider of mobile and network security solutions for enterprise, government and consumer markets. The Company provide a series of products including fingerprint sensors, software and intellectual property (IP) that provide security, convenience, personalization and navigation features in such end-use products as personal computers (PCs), tablets, smartphones, printers, network servers and gateways. The Company operates in two segments: Smart Sensor Solutions (SSS), consists of smart fingerprint sensors, area sensors (TouchChip sensors), identity management and electronic commerce (e-commerce) solutions, and the ESS segment that provides network and mobile system security solutions. In November 2011, the Company acquired PeerSec Networks, a provider of networking security solutions. In December 2011, the Company acquired the assets of Proxure, Inc., a provider of syncing and cloud-based storage services for PCs and mobile devices.
