Community Financial Shares, Inc. is a bank holding company. The Company, through its subsidiaries, primarily engages in the financial activities to the commercial banking industry. The Company’s principal business is conducted by the Bank and consists of offering a range of community-based financial services, including commercial and retail banking services. The Company has a wholly owned banking subsidiary, Community Bank-Wheaton/Glen Ellyn (the Bank). The Bank’s loan portfolio consists of primarily of real-estate mortgage loans, which include loans secured by residential, multi-family and nonresidential properties. The Bank offers unsecured loans, consumer loans are generally secured by automobiles, boats, mobile homes, stocks, bonds, and other personal property. The Bank’s deposit accounts consist of regular savings accounts, retail checking or NOW accounts, commercial checking accounts, money market accounts and certificate of deposit accounts.
